CNN —Nikki Haley’s presidential campaign has for weeks been looking ahead to the Republican primary in South Carolina, her home state where she was twice elected governor. The primary in South Carolina is open, meaning Democrats and independents can cast ballots in the GOP race. The former president does not need to open a larger tent in order to win in South Carolina. It’s obviously not insurmountable, and with 50 at stake in South Carolina, Haley could theoretically jump into the lead. South Carolina awards 29 of its delegates to the statewide winner and three apiece to the leader in each of its seven congressional districts.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — The Republican-led but closely divided New Hampshire House rejected three abortion bills Thursday, refusing to either further restrict or protect reproductive rights. The House voted 193-184 Thursday in favor of asking voters to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution as well. The only one of three measures to be debated was the constitutional amendment to protect abortion up to 24 weeks and allow abortions beyond that when a physician believes they are necessary. “There simply is no threat to abortion rights in this state, despite the never-ending political rhetoric to the contrary," said Rep. WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump has won the last remaining unresolved delegate from New Hampshire, giving him a 13-9 delegate advantage in the Granite State over former U.N. Unlike in the Democratic presidential primaries, where all states follow a mostly uniform delegate allocation procedure, Republican delegate rules vary state by state. These whole percentages are then multiplied by the total number of Republican delegates at stake, which in New Hampshire is 22. WASHINGTON (AP) — More people cast votes in Tuesday’s contest between former President Donald Trump and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley than in any previous presidential primary of either party in New Hampshire’s history. Tuesday’s primary currently ranks fourth in combined turnout. Trump holds the distinction of receiving the most votes ever in a New Hampshire presidential primary, with about 173,000 votes as of Wednesday morning. Trailing just behind was the 2016 GOP primary, which gave Trump his first of three wins in the Granite State.

As a sitting president in 2020, Trump took 86% of the New Hampshire primary vote and 97% of the vote in the Iowa caucuses. An incumbent president who got 59% of the vote in the Iowa caucuses and close to half in the New Hampshire primary? About two-thirds (67%) of Republican primary voters in New Hampshire told exit pollsters they opposed a national ban on abortion.

CNN —Nothing seems to be stopping Donald Trump as he surges toward his third consecutive Republican nomination. And yet, Trump spent Tuesday night seething, sources told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, because his sole remaining GOP rival, former South Carolina Gov. Trump criticized Haley publicly and privately and urged his political aides to up their attacks on her, Collins reported. But even while in office, Trump never lost sight of his core political formula — his reputation as an insurgent outsider.
